FIRST AID AND CPR QUALIFICATIONS
All fitness professionals registered with Physical Activity Australia must hold valid Apply First Aid (Code; HLTAID003) and CPR qualifications (Code: HLTAID001). An Apply First Aid certificate can also be known as Workplace Level 2, Sports First Aid or Senior First Aid.
An equivalent workplace first aid qualification is also accepted; if you hold such a certificate, you do not need to complete Level 2 First Aid training. A letter from your workplace (on company letterhead) stating your position in the organisation is all that’s required.
First aid certificates must be updated every three years, and CPR certificates every 12 months. We will send you a reminder email when you are due to update your qualifications.
Your CPR and first aid qualifications must be up-to-date for your registration to remain valid. This is also a requirement for most insurance providers. Check with your provider for more information.
Many different organisations run accredited first aid courses. Some of the national providers include:
- Australian Red Cross
- Royal Lifesaving Australia
- St John’s Ambulance
- Sports Medicine Australia
- Surf Lifesaving Australia
Physical Activity Australia recognises all accredited first aid and CPR courses. Registered training providers can direct you to an accredited course.
